The code is indeed long. And I agree with the Wendell Berry quote in the sense that think it's wrong to judge a language based on a single micro-benchmark. I think Tim Bray should have avoided making such decisive conclusions about Erlang writing a single 20-line utility in it. He was setting himself up for rebuttal.
