the City of Boston — for its solar-powered trash compactors!

IMG_2102

I must praise this compactor for its fault tolerant design: even if the power grid fails, it keeps compacting away. Very Erlangy :)

(Alas, if the sun fails, it is in trouble — but then we’d have bigger problems to worry about :) )

Hey Yariv, I’ve been reading your site out of general curiosity and on the chance I might try my hand at some Erlang stuff one day.

Anyway, this is the last place I thought I’d bump into the BigBelly! Some of my friends that went to Olin College helped design that for Seahorse Power Company. Glad you like it!

You might want to read about Olin, it’s an interesting new school that teaches engineering in a lot of new ways. I just graduated last May, in what was the school’s first-ever graduating class. Maybe they could try teach one of the classes in Erlang? I should suggest it!

    “Alas, if the sun fails….”

That’s why it should be nuclear, like planet Earth. (Maybe. :^)

    (Go, Erlang!) (I’m trying!)
